The children from the school with Mrs Margaret Pridmore on her leaving day
Report taken from Rutland & Stamford Mercury on 13th September 1985
MRS MARGARET Pridmore was always much more than the caretaker at Woodnewton School.
When the occasion demanded she could always be relied on to serve teas and help out at school functions. And, particularly before the parent-teacher body was formed, she did a lot to raise money for school funds.
After 18 years she retired and last week governors, staff, parents and pupils gathered to present her with a framed picture, some crystal glassware and a flower arrangement.
Mrs Pridmore, who lives at Orchard Crescent, Woodnewton, with her husband Joe, is reported to be missing the children already.
“But she will still be associated with us and will be invited to join us on school outings,” said head teacher Miss Pamela Darvill.
