At the end of 1988, the chldren and their head teacher, Miss Darvill, decided that the school should have its own wildlife pond.  In 1984 the school had been given some extra land at the rear of the school, so with the help of some parents, the digging of the pond in the corner of this field started in the January of 1989. Although the weather was dry, we we can see from the first photograph, the ground was very hard due to there having been some frosts.  The last photograph, with the flowers in bloom was taken in the Autumn of 1989.  Click on the first dot below to see a record of how the children managed to achieve their project.
