Macdonald George Allen was born on 15th June 1900. During his working life he was a signalman at Kings Cliffe Station and retired in 1966.
Frances Vera Lattita Mould who would become his wife in 1921, was born in Woodnewton at The Gardens (the Old Post Office) on 16th November 1897. She was the second daugter of John Samuel Mould and Jemima Fitzjohn. Her older sister Kathleen who was born in 1896, also married and lived in Woodnewton.

GOLDEN CELEBRATIONS FOR WOODNEWTON COUPLE
Woodnewton couple, Frances Vera and Mac Allen, have been village correspondents for two weekly newspapers for many years. But one bit of news they did not report on was their gold wedding anniversary which they celebrated yesterday. Mr Allen (71) is also the village postmaster. He took on the job five years ago, when he retired as a signal-man with British Rail. The couple now live in the house adjoining the post office, where Mrs Allen (73) was born and has lived for most of her life.
They believe they were the first couple to arrive by car instead of horse and carriage for their wedding at the parish church.
They still lead very active lives for both are keen gardeners growing their own vegetables and fruit, and Mrs Allen gets up at 5.30 every morning to receive the first delivery of morning newspapers. She is still a member of the choir, which she joined when she was 10 years old.
The Allens have nine children, all married and this weekend they are holding a family celebration with about 35 relations present.
Said Mr Allen: “It hardly seems like 50 weeks let alone 50 years since we got married. “We’ve had our difficulties, but we’ve come through them all”.
