On Friday afternoon at the closing of the school for the summer vacation, a pleasing ceremony took place, when Mrs F Hughes, Head Mistress for the past eleven years, was presented with a candlewick bedspread and lace duchess set, subscribed to by parents of past and present scholars.  Mrs Hughes leaves the village on Thursday to be Head Mistress at Hunningham School, Leamington Spa. 

The presentation was made by Miss E Black of Nassington, and late mistress at Woodnewton School.  Mrs Hughes thanked them all for their kind thoughts and good wishes and added that the gifts would always remind her of Woodnewton School.  A bouquet of sweet peas was presented to her by Jane Bellkirk.
