John Russell started the Art Group in the old Methodist Chapel on the 23rd April 2014.
Robert Bibby, a Potter based in the Methodist Chapel, asked John if he was interested in running an Art Class in his newly created space on the top floor as John had previously used the old space for a Life Drawing Class. The original Art Group consisted of 9 people who met on Wednesday mornings and subsequently a second Group was formed on the 9th September 2014, with six people which met on Tuesday
afternoons.
Unfortunately Robert Bibby had to close The Pottery during the Covid pandemic and both Groups were inactive during lockdown between 2020 and 2021. After the end of lockdown both Groups recommenced in different venues, the Tuesday Group relocated to the Kings Cliffe Memorial Hall and the Wednesday Group to Woodnewton Village Hall on the 8th September 2021.
John was always there to help with advice on many mediums including Oil, Watercolour and Acrylic painting together with drawing and pastels.
Many of the pictures are always being exhibited in the Village Hall.
