Rev Charles Browne was instituted by the Bishop of Peterborough, Dr Spencer Leeson on Friday, 7th March 1952. During his sermon, the Bishop said that Mr Browne was a man of mature years and ability and thought that he would fit in well. The induction was performed by the Archdeacon of Oakham, the Ven E N Millard and presented by Col B T Brassey.
During 1953, the Rev James Brookshank Moore was appointed as Assistant Priest and Tutor and came to stay with Mr Browne and his wife at the Vicarage.
Rector of Watlington and Priest in Charge of Runcton Holme with Watlington in the Diocese of Ely was Mr Browne’s next Parish.
